Police are appealing for information after a group of youths believed to be in their mid-teens attempted to steal a woman's phone in Normanby on Monday night.

The victim was walking alone past Outwood Academy Normanby towards the High Street at 11.15pm when she was approached by two male and two females.

One of the males who was wearing a blue raincoat style jacket grabbed her by the arm and tried to take her phone.

The woman threatened to call police and the group ran off.  She was physically unharmed but was very shaken.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have captured the incident on their CCTV or dash cam to contact Redcar CID via the non-emergency number 101.

More studies are to be launched into the deaths of thousands of crabs and crustaceans off the coast of our area.

Large piles of dead and dying crabs and lobsters began to wash up along the coast at Seaton Carew, South Gare, Redcar, Marske and Saltburn in October.

Defra - the Department for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs - published findings of a probe this month which said an “algal bloom” in the North Sea was likely to be responsible for the worrying event.

However reduced catches have continued off the North-east coast.

And now Defra has confirmed it is carrying out further scientific studies after more reports of dead or dying lobsters and crabs in the region this week.

Officers are appealing for information after a collision in Middlesbrough in which a pedestrian sustained fractures to her arm, elbow and leg.

It happened at 7.20pm on Monday, when she was in collision with a white BMW which was travelling on Heywood Street, heading towards Acklam Road.

The 24 year old woman is receiving treatment in James Cook University Hospital.

If you saw the collision - or have CCTV or dash cam footage - you are asked to contact Cleveland Police via the non-emergency number 101 number.
