Police are appealing for dashcam from overnight following reports of a van travelling on the A66 on the wrong side of the road.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit attended reports at half past midnight last night of a white Citroen Berlingo van, travelling on the wrong carriageway of the A66, from the area of Cannon Park towards Darlington.

A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence and remains in police custody.

The white van potentially passed a number of vehicles before being stopped by police so officers want to hear from any witnesses or anyone with footage which may assist on the non-emergency number 101.

The Festival of Thrift has expanded its board with a number of new appointments, and a search is underway for more new faces.

Local musician Mike McGrother, former MEP Julie Ward and marketing expert Nina Byrne have joined the festival’s founding board members Stella Hall, Gerardine Hemingway MBE, Wayne Hemingway MBE and John Orchard to support the future strategic direction of the nationally recognised award-winning celebration of sustainable living.

A further round of recruitment is also currently underway aimed at encouraging young and underrepresented communities to join the board, with appointments due to finalised by April.

A road in Guisborough had to be closed yesterday to allow an unsafe tree on private property to be brought down ahead of Storm Eunice which is expected to affect our area tomorrow.

Teams from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council put an emergency road closure in place on The Avenue in Guisborough in order to allow the urgent work to go ahead.

A Met Office warning remains in place for today and tomorrow for strong winds, which are expected to cause damage and disruption.

The latest advice is to ensure that any loose items on your property are safely secured, and to take care when driving, especially if you are driving a high sided vehicle or towing a caravan.
