It's been announced that British Steel is to invest in new facilities at it's plant at Skinningrove.

UK-based Building Design Northern has announced that it will build new processing facilities at the plant.

The investment will total £26million and it will be British Steel's largest investment in its special profiles division for more than 30 years.

Work on the new facilities are scheduled to start later this year, with commissioning expected to start in August next year.

The new service centre will allow the company to bring to the market an extended range of value-added profiles for the forklift industry.

A man has been arrested after police executed a drugs warrant in Redcar yesterday.

The neighbourhood policing team executed the Misuse of Drugs Act search warrant on Harwal Road.

A number of weapons were seized alongside suspected Class A drugs including heroin, and illegal prescription drugs.

A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A and C drugs and was taken into custody.

Emergency services were called to Great Ayton yesterday afternoon after a serious collision.

North Yorkshire Police reported on its social media channels, just after 2.15pm, that High Street would be closed for the "foreseeable future" while it dealt with the incident.

Fire crews and the Great North Air Ambulance also attended the scene, near High Green, and a road closure was put in place.

Motorists and members of the public were urged to avoid the area of the incident and seek alternative routes.

The road has since reopened.
