Detectives are investigating following a report of rape in Marton at the weekend.

The incident was reported to have happened between 7.30am and 9am on Sunday.

A woman in her 30s reported a rape by a male, in a wooded area near to Marton West Beck in Middlesbrough.

A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of rape, kidnap and assault and has been released on bail whilst enquiries continue.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

A number of cars have been towed away in a joint operation to get untaxed vehicles off the streets.

Enforcement teams at Middlesbrough Council found five untaxed cars during an operation in North Ormesby while working alongside Cleveland Police and Thirteen Housing.

Once the authority has seized the vehicles the DVLA are notified and the owner has to pay fees including taxing the vehicle before it can be released.

The vehicle owner also has to prove that they own that vehicle. If they do not do this within seven days the council will receive notification from the DVLA to destroy or dispose of the vehicle.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have agreed to purchase Goodwins building in Redcar to deliver town centre improvements.

As part of ambitious plans to transform and regenerate Redcar, the Council have signed an agreement with Goodwins to purchase their High Street premises.

The latest development, which is part of the wider Redcar Town Deal Scheme, builds on the Council buying the freehold for the former Marks and Spencer’s building, and provides the opportunity to create a focal point for the town and a link from the High Street to the Esplanade, where events can take place and pop-up food, drink and retail operators can trade.

Goodwins will retain a presence in the town following the purchase of the B&M building on the High Street at auction recently.
