The volunteers of the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team have been called into action to rescue an injured woman yesterday.

The team responded yesterday afternoon following a report of a 79-year-old-woman who had fallen and injured her ankle whilst walking just north of Osmotherley.

Two double-crewed Land Rovers were immediately deployed.

In addition, a number of other Team members separately made their way to the scene which was approximately 250-metres north of Lady’s Chapel, along the Cleveland Way.

The casualty was treated by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service personnel assisted by some of our Team members.

Once she had received pain relief and her ankle had been stabilised she was lifted onto a rescue stretcher she was then carried for approximately 500-metres to the ambulance for onward transport to hospital.

Police have removed another vehicle from the road which was being driven illegally in our area.

The silver Ford vehicle was seized by officers at 5.30pm on Saturday on Dale Street in New Marske after it was seen being driven with no insurance, MOT or tax.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Officers say they will continue to take action against those who persist in driving undocumented, illegal, unroadworthy or nuisance vehicles.

Anyone with information about vehicles which are being driven illegally is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.

The last call for green bins before Christmas is being made by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.

The final collection of garden waste for 2021 is happening across the next week.

If your next blue bin collection is due between now and next Tuesday the 30th November, it will be your last chance this year to present your green bin alongside it.

More information about waste collections over the festive period is available on the Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council website.
