A flood alert has been issued for a large stretch of the North Sea coast after strong winds and heavy rainfall.
The alert has been issued due to "large waves" as a result "of rising tides and strong winds".
It has been issued for part of the North Yorkshire coast running from Staithes to Whitby.
The Environment Agency has warned that they expect large waves and spray to affect sea front and coastal areas as a result of rising tides and strong winds.
Tides are expected to continue to rise towards springs on Friday and the Flood Information Service says that it will issue further advice if required.
A ‘Cleaner Borough Strategy’ which sets out how Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council will keep our area clean and tidy over the next two years has been approved by the Council’s Cabinet.
The strategy, which was approved by the cabinet last week, focuses on six key areas that the work of the Council will focus on to make the borough a cleaner place, including tackling climate change and enhancing the natural environment, collective responsibility, community pride, managing expectations, communication, engagement and education, and strong enforcement.
The ‘Cleaner Borough Strategy’ will help the council to set out how it will structure and deliver the work.
Redcar's Running Festival returns to the town this weekend, featuring the Everyone Active Redcar Half Marathon, the Zetland 10k, Beacon 5k and the 2k Fun Run.
Taking place on Sunday and organised by the Council in partnership with Everyone Active and New Marske Harriers, the flat, fast and traffic-free route is increasingly popular with runners of all abilities, from all across our area.
This year's races start from Zetland Park, with the half marathon taking place over a spectator-friendly, two-loop course of the Coast Road and Esplanade.
The action gets underway from 9am.
