A car was set on fire and windows were smashed during an altercation involving several men reportedly carrying weapons.

Police were called to the dispute at 5pm on Sunday to Wetherby Green at Overfields in Ormesby, with witnesses claiming the men were carrying 'machetes'.

Cleveland Police said officers also received reports of windows smashed at nearby properties and a vehicle was set alight on Allendale Road.

A spokesperson said the incidents are all being linked.

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call police on the non-emergency number 101.

The volunteers of the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team have been called into action to assist a man who was taken ill whilst walking.

The team were called out yesterday afternoon following reports that a man out walking with his friends on the North York Moors, near to Hawnby, had been taken ill and was unable to continuing walking.

Two Team Land Rovers and a number of team members were called out and directed to the area.

Shortly before the first personnel arrived on scene, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance landed and assessed the casualty before getting him into the helicopter.

He was then flown a short distance to a waiting Yorkshire Ambulance Service land ambulance to be driven to hospital for further treatment.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after a collision involving two vehicles in Middlesbrough.

The collision happened around on Park Vale Road, at around ten to eight on Sunday, and involved a white Mercedes C220 and a blue Skoda Fabia.

The 20-year-old male driver of the Skoda suffered a broken hand and was taken to James Cook University Hospital.

A 25-year-old man, who was travelling in the Mercedes, was taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

The driver made off from the scene on foot.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have CCTV or dash cam footage of the incident is asked to contact police.
