Four men have been arrested in connection with a reported shooting in Hemlington on Monday night.
A man in his 30s is receiving hospital treatment for gunshot wounds.
A 53-year-old man, 36-year-old man and two 30-year-old men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The 36-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of a driving offence.
Police were called to Arrandale in Hemlington just before 7pm on Monday to a report of a man being shot at by two men travelling on a black moped.
Police responded immediately and armed police officers attended. People in the area will continue to see a police presence for reassurance.
The investigation continues and detectives are appealing to anyone with any information to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
Police have issued an appeal following high value alcohol theft from compound.
A container of whisky and gin was stolen from a compound in the John Boyle Road area of South Bank on the evening of Tuesday 25th May.
It happened around ten to nine in the evening when a white Iveco Stralis loaded up the container and left the site.
The alcohol in the container is estimated to be worth tens of thousands of pounds.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after a collision on the A174 eastbound on Saturday evening.
The incident happened around 8:45pm, when a Volkswagen Passat was in collision with a Vauxhall Insignia.
The Passat did not stop at the scene, however, it is believed to have come to a halt on the slip road before setting on fire.
At least two males made off from the vehicle and it is believed that they may have been picked up by a black Mercedes.
The Vauxhall driver was left uninjured.
