Two men have appeared in court charged with reported drugs offences after a large amount of cash and cannabis was reportedly seized by Neighbourhood Policing Officers from a property in Redcar.

The charges were made in connection with a reported drugs warrant which was executed at a property on the High Street in Redcar on Thursday.

A large quantity of cash and £130k worth of cannabis was reportedly seized from the property.

The warrant was executed as part of Operation Endeavour to tackle serious and organised crime.

The two men appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court yesterday.

A mobile testing unit for Covid-19 will open in central Redcar from next Wednesday.

The site, at Kirkleatham Street Car Park, will be a drive-through for people to book ahead and is for people who have symptoms of the coronavirus.

The mobile testing unit was previously in operation at Kirkleatham Walled Garden but is now being relocated.

Tests at the Kirkleatham Street Car Park in central Redcar will be available from 9am to 3pm from Wednesdays through to Sundays.

A two-week campaign is set to begin next week in an attempt to raise an important safety issue on the roads of Teesside.

Cleveland and Durham police will be patrolling the roads from Monday to raise awareness of the importance of wearing a seatbelt.

As part of their daily patrols officers will particularly focus on drivers and their passengers who are not wearing seatbelts.

The aim of the campaign is to educate people on the dangers of ignoring the law, and where police think it appropriate, they will take enforcement action.

Failure to wear a seatbelt carries a fine of £100 - and if prosecuted, the maximum fine could be anything up to £500.
