Dozens of bikers have taken part in an emotional funeral procession for young motorcyclist who died in a crash in our area.
16-year-old Rhys Wardle was riding in woodland near Lazenby when he collided with a tree on Sunday, March 21st.
The riders turned out yesterday to follow Rhys on his final journey through the streets of Ormesby where he lived.
Many were wearing neon pink and yellow T-shirts, and revved their engines and sounded their horns in tribute during the special convoy to Teesside Crematorium.
A lorry driver has had to be freed from his cab by firefighters after a crash on a major road on Teesside.
The vehicle overturned just before 9am yesterday on the A19 southbound slip road from the A174 Parkway.
Police, ambulance and and fire crews attended the scene and the road was closed.
The driver of the lorry was freed from the vehicle by firefighters.
Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision which happened at the weekend.
The incident happened around 10:25pm on Saturday on Church Lane in Middlesbrough, and involved a white Citroen DS3 and a silver Toyota Yaris.
The driver of the Yaris, a 38-year-old woman, suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to James Cook University Hospital.
The female driver of the DS3, a 22-year-old woman, and a 23-year-old male passenger, were also taken to hospital with chest and shoulder injuries.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit, on the non-emergency number 101.
