The latest government figures show that there have been 132 more positive cases confirmed on Teesside in the past 24 hours.

The highest daily rise in Covid-19 cases was in Stockton, where there were 71 new infections.

In Middlesbrough there were 21 new cases, whilst here in Redcar and Cleveland there have been a further 16.

The Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer were in our area yesterday.

Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak enjoyed a boat tour at Teesport, before holding a brief, socially-distanced news conference in an office block at PD Ports.

Dressed in hi-vis jackets and hard hats, the Prime Minister and Chancellor dealt with questions from the local media, and told journalists they are promising Teesside will be completely transformed over the coming decade.

Police are appealing for witnessesfollowing a collision on Cargo Fleet Lane in Middlesbrough.

The incident occurred  outside of the Corpus Christi Primary School on Sunday at around 4:50am when a red Seat Leon vehicle reportedly collided with a metal fence.

As a result of the collision the 27 year old male driver suffered injuries to his neck and two female passengers aged 23 and 25 suffered injuries to their arm, back and face.

Both women remain in hospital receiving treatment for their injuries.

Cleveland Police are appealing for anyone with dash cam or private CCTV footage, or any witnesses who may have sighted the vehicle prior to the colliion to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
