Stockton saw the highest daily increase, with 79 new cases, closely followed by Middlesbrough which had 77.

Here in Redcar and Cleveland there were 71 new confirmed cases.

 

Three men have been arrested in connection with a knifepoint robbery after police tracked down the suspects and found suspected stolen goods.

A knifepoint robbery occurred on Wednesday at the Saver Store on Grange Road, Middlesbrough, when two men entered the store with a knife and wearing balaclavas, and made off with cash, cigarettes and alcohol.

Officers used the assistance of a police dog, which led them to a block of flats, where two men were found with suspected stolen goods.

Two men aged 34 and 40 were arrested on suspicion of robbery and a third man, aged 49, was also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery.

All three men were taken into police custody.

The bike was stolen overnight from Monday into Tuesday this week.
