The number of confirmed daily cases of coronavirus on Teesside has increased by a further 400.

According to figures released by Public Health England yesterday, Middlesbrough had the highest increase in cases with another 120 people contracting coronavirus in the town.

A total of 118 new cases of Covid-19 were also confirmed in Stockton, whilst here in Redcar and Cleveland there were 93 new cases of the virus.

Four teenagers have been issued with fines after they were found breaching covid-19 regulations to visit a beauty spot.

Officers discovered the four, who were all from different households, in the same car at Broken Scar, near Darlington, shortly after 11pm on Thursday.

The driver, a 19-year-old man who had travelled from Guisborough and his three 18-year-old passengers, who were two women from Guisborough and a man from Darlington, were all issued with Fixed Penalty Notices.

The fines came as police forces across the country have vowed to get tough on those not following lockdown guidelines.

It's been confirmed that Dunsdale Recycling Centre is to remain open during the current lockdown.

However residents of Redcar and Cleveland are required to book an appointment when visiting the site and are being urged not to make unnecessary trips during the lockdown period.

Appointments are available from 8am to 5pm, seven days a week.

Permit type vehicles including vans, commercial vehicles or any vehicles with trailers are limited to the first 2 hours of the day only, and still need a permit to access the site.

For details on permits, or to book an appointment, visit the Council's website.
