A further 180 people have tested positive for coronavirus according to the latest figures.

All four borough's in the Teesside area saw a dip in numbers compared with Saturday when the number of people confirmed to have had covid-19 passed the 20,000 mark.

Public Health England figures released yesterday showed that Stockton had the most positive tests at 57 but this was almost half those released a day earlier when it had 100 cases.

In Middlesbrough there were a further 53 confirmed cases, whilst here in Redcar and Cleveland there were a further 39.

Detectives are appealing for information after a report of a disturbance on Beaumont Road in Middlesbrough on Saturday night.

At around ten to eleven officers were called to reports that a number of men had barged into a house and that there was a disturbance at the address.

Police attended the scene and located a cannabis farm with a large number of plants.

An investigation has begun and police remain at the scene.

It is believed that two vehicles left the address before police arrived, and detectives want to know more from any witnesses as to what they saw.

They are appealing for people in the area with dashcam or private CCTV footage to come forward.

They also want to hear from anyone who has information on the disturbance or cannabis farm.

Information can be passed to Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101 or through Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

An local primary school has been named among the country's leading state schools.

Newcomen Primary School in Redcar has been ranked 16th by the Sunday Times in its latest Parent Power guide.

The school on Trent Road – which is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted - came out top for all primaries in the North East.

Chandlers Ridge Primary School in Nunthorpe also made the top 250 list at number 238.

The Sunday Times analysed performance in 2019’s SATS and looked closely at scores in three key areas: reading, grammar, punctuation and spelling, and maths.
