There have been further increases in the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 across Teesside.

Data released by Public Health England yesterday revealed more than 100 new cases in all four Teesside boroughs.

Stockton once again recorded the highest number of cases, with 161.

In Middlesbrough there were a further 108 new cases, whilst here in Redcar and Cleveland there were a further 106.

A toddler remains critically ill in hospital after an incident at a property in New Marske.

Cleveland Police have confirmed the incident involved a two-year-old girl.

She has been taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary where she is being treated for her injuries.

Officers arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the incident at a house in Dale Street, New Marske on Tuesday morning.

A spokesman for the force said enquiries are continuing into the circumstances surrounding how the little girl came about her injuries.

The man remains in police custody.

It's been announced that garden waste collections in Redcar and Cleveland are having to end early this year due to the effects of Covid-19 on council staff numbers.

A large number of trained employees in Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council’s waste collection service are having to shield or self-isolate, leaving resources stretched.

The Council will need to cease the collections of garden waste on Friday 13 November so it can maintain collections of household waste and recycling.

The garden waste collections are planned to resume from Tuesday 2 March next year.
