More than 350 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed on Teesside, according to the latest figures.

Stockton has once again recorded by far the highest number of new cases in daily figures released by Public Health England.

The borough saw an increase of 146, whilst Middlesbrough also saw a sharp rise of 93 new cases.

Here in Redcar and Cleveland there were 71 new confirmed cases.

A tip-off has led to an illegal fishing net being seized in East Cleveland.

The 5 x 2m gill net was discovered at Skinningrove after Fisheries Enforcement Officers received a report on Tuesday.

It was set across Kilton Beck and is believed to have been positioned on Monday.

It is illegal for individuals to fish for salmon or sea trout by net without an official licence from the Environment Agency.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is preparing to assist local businesses following yesterday's funding announcement from the government.

The Council says it will be releasing information on how hospitality, hotel, B&B, leisure and other affected businesses in our area can apply for Tier 2 grant funding as soon as it receives the guidance and funding from Government.

In the meanwhile, further help and advice is available on the council's website.
