Coronavirus cases continue to rise across Teesside, a day after the Government announced an error regarding unreported infections.

Yesterday, Public Health England revealed in updated figures that a further 176 cases have been confirmed across Teesside, taking the total confirmed since the start of the pandemic to 5,848.

The highest rise was in Stockton, with 60 new cases, whilst in Middlesbrough a further 51 new cases were reported.

Here in Redcar and Cleveland the figures increased by 35.

The Redcar Coastguard Rescue Team have been called into action in our area.

Just before half-past midday on Sunday the Redcar team were tasked by the operations room at Bridlington to reports of a persons possibly being cut off by the tide on the scars just west of Granville Terrace slipway in Redcar.

Upon arrival the persons were already in the process of walking towards the beach.

Safety advice was given and the team was stood down.

Members of the public are reminded that if you see anyone in trouble on the beach or cliffs you should 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

A 24-year-old man has appeared in court charged with production of a class B drug and abstracting electricity.

The man was arrested in connection with the discovery of an alleged cannabis farm in Borough Road in Middlesbrough last week.

He was charged and remanded in custody and appeared at court yesterday.
