Specialist officers investigating the disappearance of local man Steven Clark have been searching the back garden of a property in Marske.

There was a large police presence outside the semi-detached house yesterday, with three police cars, a police van and a crime scene investigation vehicle all at the scene.

A police cordon was also erected across the public footpath that runs down the side of the house on the Coast Road.

Steven has not been seen since going missing during a trip to Saltburn in December 1992.

The searches are taking place after specialist officers investigating the case arrested two people on suspicion of murder earlier last week.

A number of people have been reported after travelling to Redcar and collecting shellfish on a large scale without a permit.

The group were stopped by officers from the North Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority on Wednesday.

Those responsible had travelled to the seafront from Yarm and had collected lobsters and over 70 crabs, all without a permit.

People who breach legislation can face a number of penalties, including fines of up to £50,000 for serious breaches.

Two people have been arrested in connection with a theft from a vehicle in our area.

Redcar Neighbourhood Officers arrested a man aged 40 and a woman aged 32 on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle yesterday afternoon.

The man and woman were taken into custody pending further enquiries.
