Another 31 people have tested positive for coronavirus on Teesside.

The figures from Public Health England figures show that there have been more cases confirmed in all four areas.

The highest number of confirmed cases has been recorded in Middlesbrough where 12 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the town.

In Stockton, there has been seven new cases of the virus.

Hartlepool and Redcar have also recorded an additional six cases each.

A large part of Saltburn seafront had to be closed yesterday afternoon following the discovery of a suspected explosive device.

A member of the public contacted police at 1:15pm yesterday to report what they believed to be an old hand grenade which had been found near to the seafront at Cat Nab in Saltburn.

As a result a 50m cordon was put in place and people were told to avoid the area for safety reasons.

The explosive ordnance disposal team attended the scene and the old hand grenade was destroyed in a controlled explosion.

The area was reopened shortly before 5pm.

The A66 at Cargo Fleet Lane had to be closed in both directions after a lorry fire yesterday.

Police closed the dual carriageway near to the Suzuki garage in North Ormesby, after the incident on the westbound carriageway in which a heavy goods vehicle caught fire.

Fuel was also spilled onto the road.

The incident happened at 2.40pm and the traffic was diverted around Skippers Lane.

The driver of the vehicle is not believed to have been injured in the incident.
