The latest figures have show that there has continued to be more cases of Coronavirus confirmed across our area.

37 new positive cases were recorded across Teesside yesterday.

That figure was down slightly from 44 cases on Wednesday - but is still much higher than the average through July and much of August.

In Redcar and Cleveland there have been 7 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, bringing the total to 807.

In Middlesbrough the total has risen to 1,191, that's an increase of 11 in the past 24 hours.

Plans to redevelop a former Redcar seafront amusement arcade into a pub and eatery have been approved.

Arcadia Leisure on Redcar's Esplanade, next-door to the Palace Hub, was a family favourite for years.

Now Redcar and Cleveland Council has given the go-ahead for a scheme to split the large building into three units.

A pub, restaurant including takeaways and an amusements with a cafe are all part of the major overhaul.

Upstairs, an old first-floor flat will be converted into three apartments.

Three new bus routes have been introduced to improve the journeys for those travelling in and out of Normanby, East Cleveland and Guisborough.

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, in partnership with the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority and Arriva, have introduced a daytime bus service to and from the Norman Conquest in Normanby and an evening bus journey between Brotton, Easington, Loftus and Whitby.

The extra buses are funded by the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority using a grant from the Department for Transport.

The funding for the services will last until April 2021.
