In Redcar and Cleveland the figure increased by four, up to 770.

The total number of confirmed cases on Teesside since the start of the pandemic now stands at 3,616.

The Halifax, on the High Street in Redcar, is believed to have closed its doors on Tuesday after signs were placed outside the branch.

The company has now confirmed an employee tested positive for coronavirus and have advised some colleagues to self isolate as a precaution.

Halifax has not outlined when the bank will reopen but stated the building is currently being cleaned.

The coastguard and RNLI lifeboats from Redcar were called into action earlier in the week after reports of a horse in the sea at Redcar.

Just before midday on Tuesday the Redcar Coastguard Rescue team were tasked by the Humber operations room at Bridlington to reports of a horse going out into the sea and the owner attempting to recover it near the Stray in Redcar.

The team was stood down on route as the horse had come to shore and was safe and well.

Members of the public are reminded that if you see anyone in trouble on the beach or cliffs you should dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
