The coastguard has once again been called into action in our area.

Just before midday yesterday the Redcar and Staithes Coastguard teams were tasked by the operations room at Bridlington to reports of a casualty having fallen down the slope right next to the bridleway entrance to the beach at Marske.

On arrival on scene a member of RNLI Lifeguards Yorkshire was already with the casualty and performing first aid.

Two rope rescue technicians and a Coastguard Rescue Officer who is an Advanced EMT went down to the casualty.

With the help of the RNLI Lifeguard the casualty was put onto a stretcher and brought back to the top of the bridleway and put in the care of North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust personnel.

If you see anyone in trouble on the beach or cliffs DIAL 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Suspected cannabis farms estimated to be worth thousands of pounds were discovered and dismantled in North Ormesby yesterday.

Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team uncovered a large number of mature plants in properties in Jubilee Street.

Around 200 plants, estimated to be worth around £1,000 each, were recovered.

No arrests have been made at this time but enquiries continue.

Swimming pools across Redcar and Cleveland, operated by Everyone Active, are set to reopen after being closed for almost five months due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Following the successful reopening of gyms and exercise studios earlier this month, Guisborough Swim and Fitness Centre, Loftus Leisure centre, Saltburn Leisure centre and Redcar and Cleveland Leisure and Community Heart will reopen their pools this coming Saturday.

Swimming lessons will also start again from this date.

However, the opening of Eston swimming pool will be delayed as repairs are needed due to flood damage.
