A man has been charged with vehicle offences following an incident in Ormesby at the weekend.

Officers from Redcar CID have charged a 24 year old man with attempted theft of a motor vehicle following the incident which happened on Saturday.

As a result of the alleged incident it was reported that a vehicle was significantly damaged.

The man will appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on September 21st.

Police have seized two vehicles which were being used to make deliveries in our area.

On Friday teatime, officers from Redcar Neighbourhood Police Team stopped a Vauxhall Astra on Blenheim Terrace in Redcar for having no insurance.

The car was being used by a local business and the driver called a colleague to collect goods from his vehicle so a number of deliveries could still take place.

However when the second car arrived, it too was checked by police, who found that this vehicle also had no insurance.

With support from Cleveland & Durham Specialist Operations Unit, both cars were seized, and the two uninsured vehicles are now off the road.
