Police have arrested a man after a robbery in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The incident happened on Nightingale Road in Eston at around 3:40am, near to the Beacon Public House.

A 44-year-old man is reported to have been threatened by a man with a knife, and a small amount of cash was stolen from him.

The suspect also tried to take the victim’s pedal bike, and he followed the victim along Winston Drive before making off without the bike towards Bankfields Road.

Response officers flooded the area to conduct searches for the suspect, and a 28-year-old man was located nearby and arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Anyone who may have information, or anyone who may have private CCTV around the area where the incident happened, is asked to contact Redcar and Cleveland CID on the non-emergency number 101.

SABIC say that the restarting of a major chemical plant in our area is going according to plan.

The Olefins 6 plant is coming back online after undergoing essential repairs on its cooling tower.

The company say that flaring is expected to continue for the next 48 hours as the start-up progresses.

A SABIC spokesperson has once again apologised to local residents for any disturbance and says that the plant team will be working to minimize the duration and intensity of the flaring as far as possible during this period.

Locke Park in Redcar has become the first breastfeeding welcome park within the South Tees area.

Members of the South Tees infant feeding group announced the new breastfeeding friendly venue today, June 24, as part of National Breastfeeding week which takes place this week (20 -26 June).

The breastfeeding welcome initiative is aimed at encouraging venues to be welcoming and mindful of breastfeeding mums.

Redcar and Cleveland will be bringing more parks across the borough onto the scheme over the forthcoming months.
