The threat of coronavirus has led to a number of organisations in our area taking action, as the UK moves into the delay phase of the outbreak.

One person remains in self-isolation in Redcar & Cleveland after arriving back in the UK from an affected country.

The Education Training Collective, which operates Redcar and Cleveland College, says that they are putting plans in place, in the event of a government advised closure – in part or in full - to minimise impact on their students and their studies.

Bosses at Hill Care and HC-One care homes, which has facilities in Eston, Redcar and Saltburn, have closed all facilities to all but essential visitors until further notice.

And Middlesbrough Football Club have cancelled their next three games on advice from the English Football League.

Government advice remains for anyone with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature to self-isolate for seven days.

Police are appealing for information following a collision in Marton on Thursday.

The incident occurred near to the Southern Cross Public House at the junction of Stainton Way and Dixons Bank at around 9:35pm.

A black BMW 118D and a black Ford B-Max were involved in the collision.

There were no reported injuries.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

Redcar Neighbourhood Officers have continued their clampdown on illegal vehicles in our area, seizing a Volkswagen Golf and a motorbike in New Marske and Redcar over the last two days.

The motorbike was recovered from Eggleston Road in Redcar yesterday after police received reports that it was being ridden by youths in the area.

It was also suspected to be stolen.

Officers also recovered a VW Golf from an address in New Marske today after it is believed it was being driven with no insurance.
