Police and the coastguard were involved in the search for a missing person on the cliffs at Saltburn yesterday evening.

Residents reported seeing emergency vehicles at close to Hunley Hall golf course, and out on the cliffs at Saltburn yesterday evening.

It's believed that there was also a helicopter at the scene.

The search was called off when the missing person was found.

 

An eleventh hour deal to bring the former Redcar steelworks into public hands is still hanging in the balance.

Efforts to secure an agreement between the South Tees Development Corporation and three Thai banks who have an interest in the land accelerated in the run up to a public hearing, which began last week.

A planning inspector is chairing a compulsory purchase hearing in South Bank, which was told last Tuesday that behind-the-scenes talks between to the two parties were at an advanced stage.

Those talks have continued - and yesterday was marked as decision-day to avoid the proceedings continuing in South Bank and agree terms on the 870 acres.

But, as of 8pm yesterday, there was still no word on whether the deal had been agreed.

 

Police in Eston have removed another nuisance vehicle from the streets.

PCSO's last night recovered a quad bike from the Bankfields area which was causing alarm and distress for local resident in the area, and was seen riding on the public road.

Police are appealing for anyone with information on where these bikes are been stored or who is riding them to call the non-emergency number 101, or to speak to a local officer.
