A stranded dolphin sparked a rescue operation on Redcar beach yesterday.

The crew from Redcar RNLI were called on Thursday morning to help rescue the creature after it got into difficulty.

The dolphin was spotted by some of the lifeboat crew members in distress at the waters edge.

Representatives from British Divers Marine Life Rescue and a vet also attended the scene and the sad decision was taken to put the dolphin to sleep.
