Officers are investigating after a suspicious death in Middlesbrough.

Police are conducting inquiries after the death of a woman in the Tomlinson Way area of Middlesbrough

Officers were called to a house by ambulance service colleagues just before 9am yesterday.

Sadly the woman was confirmed dead at the scene and her death is currently being treated as suspicious.

A post mortem examination is due to take place and inquiries are on- going.

A 24 year old man has been arrested in connection with the woman’s death and we do not currently believe there is any risk to the wider public. He is in police custody awaiting questioning by detectives.

Officers remain in the area and any one with concerns or who may have seen or heard anything suspicious can speak to the officers or phone Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

Police have arrested a man after an incident of dangerous driving in Normanby.

Around 1030 last Friday morning a red Vauxhall Astra failed to stop for an ARV and a pursuit took place.

The vehicle was driven dangerously on built-up residential roads at speeds of up to 65mph.

The vehicle was brought to a stop at Normanby Top crossroads, and the car was found to contain a toddler and a pregnant female passenger.

The male driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, no insurance, no licence and drug-driving offences.
