Extensive damage has been caused to part of a Middlesbrough building after a blaze on Saturday night.

Police, fire and ambulance were all called to a fire at the former Park Hotel in Linthorpe shortly before 9pm last night.

Severe fire damage was caused to a first floor room.

They added that four breathing apparatus and a thermal camera were also used by the fire crew.

Police closed surrounding streets, including Linthorpe Road, while the firefighters worked at the building.

Another vehicle was seized at the weekend by Neighbourhood officers for having no insurance and no licence as the police campaign continues.

The black Volkswagen Gold vehicle was seen driving into Micklow Close Redcar.

Now police are once again reminding motorists not drive your car if you do not have the correct documents.

Officers are warning that they will take your car from you if you are committing an offence.

Tens of thousands of people attended the sixth Festival of Thrift this weekend.

The multi-award winning festival was held at Kirkleatham Estate in Redcar, which attracts people from across the north of England and beyond.

For the first time the festival opened with a launch parade into Redcar town centre on the evening before it opened and the event featured its own Picnic Cinema and camping on Saturday night.

The Festival has been held at Kirkleatham since 2016. It is supported by the council, the National Lottery through Arts Council England, Tees Valley Combined Authority, SABIC and Teesside University.
