A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman's body was found in the town.

A 59-year-old man was arrested on Station Road in Redcar on suspicion of murder.

The man was arrested following the discovery of a woman’s body in William Street in Redcar earlier yesterday.

The identity of the woman has not yet been confirmed.

A post-mortem will take place to confirm the cause of death.

An investigation is ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with information to call them on the non-emergency number 101.

A motorbike has been seized after police were called to Redcar where two men had scaled the roof of a property.

Westbourne Road was cordoned off on Sunday and police vans and cars were on scene after two men were seen on the roof of a house.

The incident, which was in relation to a suspected stolen motorbike, happened at around 2pm, with the men coming down shortly after.

Police have now confirmed that a motorbike was seized at the address for having no insurance.

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council are holding a drop-in session for Carers within the borough to come and give us their views on what it means to be a Carer.

The council are inviting carers to come along and tell them about your caring role, what impact it has on you and what support you receive in the community. We’d also like to hear from Carers about which support services you value most, how could services for Carers be improved, and what challenges do you face in your role as a Carer?

Members of the commissioning team at Redcar & Cleveland Council will be based in reception at Redcar Central Library on Kirkleatham Street on Tuesday 21st August between 10.00am and 4.00pm to take your views. Please feel free to call in at any time during the day and leave your comments and suggestions.
