A number of vehicles were damaged after a police chase through our area yesterday afternoon.

Police are believed to have chased a flatbed truck through our area, including along the Parkway and Trunk Road and the wrong way down the mad mile, before it was crashed and abandoned in in Marton.

The incident, at around 5pm on Sunday, led to a man climbing onto the roof of a house in Turnbull Way on the Scholars Rise estate, just off Marton Road.

A number of police cars were at the scene and the police helicopter could be seen in the skies above.

It is not known whether anyone was injured during the incident.

The volunteers from Redcar RNLI were called into action at the weekend.

At around twenty past four on Saturday afternoon both lifeboats were launched to the Skinningrove side of Huntcliff following reports that a number of people had been cut off by the tide.

Lifeboat crews located two people at the base of the cliff, and picked them up in the lifeboat before returning them to the beach at Skinningrove.

The lifeboat crews then returned to base at Redcar.
