A drunken man who exposed himself to two women as they sat in a car eating chips has pleaded guilty to indecent exposure charges in court.

John Henson had been on a marathon drinking session when he ruined the women’s seaside trip to Redcar.

Teesside Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday how without warning, he opened his trousers and exposed himself to the two women whilst they were in their car.

The women shouted for Henson to go away and tried to move their car but they were blocked in.

The court heard Henson shouted obscene sexual remarks at the women, before he was eventually calmed down.

Henson, who pleaded guilty to indecent exposure and being drunk and disorderly, was also ordered to pay the three women in the car - as well as the by-passer - £100 in compensation.

He was given an 18 month community order with six months supervision, and 25 rehabilitation activity days.

The women, who were visiting from outisde the area, said they used to enjoy coming to Redcar for fish and chips, but their day out had been spoiled, and it had put them off their dinner.

The Redcar lifeboat was launched yesterday after an inflatable drifted out to sea.

Redcar RNLI was paged to launch by the UK Coastguard just after 5.30 yesterday afternoon to reports of an inflatable with two persons on board drifting offshore.

The lifeboat launched within 10 minutes and proceeded to the scene where they found the inflatable that was carrying two children had been assisted ashore by RNLI lifeguards from Saltburn and returned to the beach.

The lifeboat crew headed ashore to check on the condition of the two children who were unharmed.

They were handed over to a Coastguard Rescue Team and the lifeboat returned to Redcar.

The RNLI had urged those enjoying the beaches in our area to avoid the use of inflatables which are designed for the swimming pool.
