The Redcar lifeboats were in action in the early hours of yesterday to assist police with the hunt for a missing man.

Redcar Coastguard alongside flanking team members from Hartlepool Coastguard and a senior coastal operations officer were tasked alongside the RNLI lifeboats from Redcar following reports of a person missing in the area known as 'Bran Sands' on the River Tees.

Air support was also provided by the police helicopter during the search.

Once on scene a search plan was conducted and after a short while the missing man was located.

After a medical assessment was undertaken the man was stretchered to a waiting ambulance for further treatment, and he was then transferred to James Cook University Hospital.

Police have seized an off road quad bike that was being ridden in an anti-social manner in Skinningrove.

The vehicle was seized by officers as part of Operation Endurance, which aims to crack down on nuisance off road bikes and quads in our area.

The blue quad bike was taken from an adult after officers heard it being ridden around Skinningrove yesterday evening.

The quad was seized for having no insurance, no tax and no documents.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council are reminding the public that free re-usable aluminium water bottles are now available at two local visitors’ centres.

Flatts Lane Woodland Country Park and Guisborough Forest Walkway Visitor Centres have 500 aluminium water bottles to give out, free of charge throughout July, in exchange for just six empty single-use plastic water bottles.

To pick up a free aluminium water bottle, just bring six empty single-use plastic water bottles to either Flatts Lane Woodland Country Park and Guisborough Forest Walkway Visitor Centres in July.

The offer is limited to one exchange per person.
