...and a missing piglet has been reunited with her mother after being stolen in Middlesbrough.
Large parts of our area were left without power for up to three hours yesterday evening after a fire at an electrical substation.
The fire began just after ten to seven yesterday evening at the substation on the corner of Windsor Road and Princes Road in Saltburn.
Local residents reported hearing a loud bang and then seeing a plume of flames shooting from the substation.
Large parts of Saltburn, Redcar, Marske and Skelton lost power following the blaze, which was extinguished by four fire crews just before 7pm.
Power was restored in most places by 7.30, however a number of premises did not get their power back on until later in the evening.
Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council has announced it is to transform a former care home in Eston into an Intermediate Care Centre.
The centre which will help residents of the borough to regain their independence following severe illness or after a discharge from hospital.
The new Redcar & Cleveland Intermediate Care Centre will be developed at the former Hillview Care Home in Eston, and will be fully refurbished and adapted to provide the latest in design and technology.
The council will be working in partnership with the local NHS to provide high quality therapy and rehabilitation facilities to enable residents to recover more quickly from illness, promoting their independence and longer and healthier lives.
A missing piglet has been reunited with her mother after being stolen in Middlesbrough.
The ten-week-old piglet, which was in need of urgent medical attention following a recent operation, was stolen overnight on Sunday into Monday from a barn at Stewart Park in Middlesbrough.
Yesterday police issued an urgent appeal to find the black ‘iron age’ piglet, which is the approximate size of a Jack Russell dog.
However the piglet has now been found and returned to Stewart Park where she is currently being monitored closely by the staff to ensure that she is ok.
