A man who killed a motorcyclist by throwing a spade at him has been jailed for six years.
34 year old Matthew Buckworth threw the spade at 17-year-old Sonny Stephenson as he rode a motorbike in Guisborough, fracturing his skull.
Appearing in court yesterday, Buckworth denied murder and was cleared of that charge as he admitted manslaughter and attempting to cause actual bodily harm to the 15-year-old passenger. He had one previous conviction.
Accepting Buckworth’s remorse and giving him credit for his guilty plea, the judge jailed him for six years.
