Police are appealing for information after a quantity of medication was stolen from the boot of a vehicle on Newport Terrace in Middlesbrough.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at around ten to five in the afternoon.

Three bottles of Oramorph, 56 morphine tablets and 14 Amitriptyline tablets were taken from the vehicle.

Anyone who may come across the medication is asked to pass it to their nearest pharmacy or police station as the medication could be extremely dangerous and could have life threatening consequences if taken by anyone other than the person they were prescribed for.

If you have any information regarding the theft or if you have been offered the medicine for sale, please contact PC Deb Poole on the non-emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Council tax bills in Redcar and Cleveland are set to rise by nearly 4% for the second year running.

Redcar and Cleveland Council’s Cabinet has approved a proposal for a council tax increase of 1.99%.

However, once a 2% adult care precept is added, the rise will total 3.99%.

The 2% rise in the Adult Care Precept, which was also agreed on Tuesday, must only be used to provide care for vulnerable adults.

The detailed budget proposals for the 2018/19 financial year will now be made available for further consultation.

A new running festival is set to be launched this week.

The Redcar Running Festival will be launched tomorrow by Great Britain athlete and 2017's Redcar Half Marathon winner Aly Dixon.

The festival, which is taking place on Sunday 30 September 2018, incorporates the Redcar Half Marathon, Beacon 5km, 2km fun run and a new 10km race.

Entries open on Monday 1 January.
