Police are appealing for witnesses after a collision in Billingham on Tuesday evening.

The collision happened at around 7.45pm on Marsh House Avenue at the junction with the A1185 Seal Sands Link Road, involving a black Ford Ka and a Yamaha motorcycle, model XV 750 Virago. The Great North Air Ambulance attended the scene.

The 42-year-old female rider of the motorcycle suffered a head injury, multiple fractures to her ribs, wrist, thumb and cheek bone and facial injuries. A 14-year-old female pillion passenger suffered injuries to her arm and a fractured pelvis. They were taken to James Cook University Hospital, where both are described as being in a “stable and comfortable” condition.

The 21-year-old female driver of the Ford Ka was uninjured but suffering from shock.

Any witnesses to the incident are asked to contact PC Paul Callaghan from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit, on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 122104.
