Police are investigating a boat fire in South Gare.

It's believed to have happened sometime between Thursday the 19th of June and last Sunday.

It is believed that someone has boarded the boat, removed expensive fishing gear and then set the boat on fire.

Anyone with information is asked to phone PC Sharon Atkin on 101.

Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team were in action in our area at the weekend to assist a horse rider who had suffered back injuries.

She was taking part in a long distance riding event near Dunsdale on Sunday when she fell from her horse.

She was found by her family who phoned Mountain Rescue for assistance.

They used first aid to treat the woman before putting her on a stretcher and carrying her around 800 metres to a waiting ambulance.

She was then taken to hospital for treatment.

A cardboard country at this year's Festival of Thrift is inviting people to sign up as citizens.

Current citizens of Cardboardia have been busy making decorations and costumes to be featured at the festival.

The theme for the this year's event focuses on growing and the power of nature.

And other highlights include a mystery tour in a converted double decker bus and ideas for creating thrifty ceremonies.

It takes place on the 23rd and 24th of September at Kirkleatham Museum.
