A number of houses in Guisborough had to be evacuated yesterday after a fire broke out at Kwik Fit.

The flames spread after a number of cylinders in the garage caught fire.

The area was cordoned off, footpaths were blocked and houses on nearby Hunters Place were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

The fire was quickly extinguished and residents were allowed back in their homes.

There have been no reports of injuries.

Police are trying to trace a good Samaritan who offered a woman a lift home after a car hit a man near Liverton Village.

The crash happened on Saturday the third of June on the B1366.

A man who tried to intervene with the female driver's car while it was moving was left with a broken heel bone, and lacerations and abrasions.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been released.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of grevious bodily harm but has since been bailed while the investigation is underway.

Now police are asking the woman who helped the driver to get in touch by calling them on 101.

Police are also appealing for information after a home was burgled in Redcar.

It happened on the 14th of April when two people forced their way into a property on Turner Street.

They assaulted a 57-year-old man inside and stole cash and cigarettes.

A man was arrested on suspicion of burglary but was released while enquiries continue.

Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with Detective Constable Andrew Cartwright on 101.
