Heavy rain, strong winds and flooding brought problems to our area yesterday afternoon.

Floods closed Middlesbrough Road and Tilbury Road in South Bank; in Grangetown Bolckow Road was flooded at Church Lane, and many routes were affected by standing water and surface spray.

Flooding also affected train services between Thornaby and Middlesbrough, with services being replaced by road transport.

A fourth man has been arrested in connection with a fatal collision in Eston.

The man was arrested on Monday in connection with the investigation into the fatal collision which occurred on Meadowgate in Eston on the afternoon of April 2.

85-year-old John Truscott from the Eston area sadly passed away on April 12 following a collision with a motorbike.

Four males, aged 15, 19, 30 and 33 have all now been released from custody with no bail conditions whilst enquiries continue.

Tributes have been paid to local folk singer Vin Garbutt, who died yesterday.

Vin, who was known as the “Teessside Troubadour” underwent major heart surgery at James Cook University Hospital in April to remove his mitral valve and have a mechanical replacement inserted.

However in a statement released on Facebook his family revealed that Vin passed away yesterday morning.

Vin was a legend in folk music circles, his wit, warmth and love shone through as he entertained audiences worldwide.
