Cleveland Police are warning residents to keep their doors and windows locked while they're in the back garden.
The sunshine is expected to come out for the Bank Holiday weekend.
And as summer arrives police want people to make sure they're doing everything they can to prevent thieves entering their homes.
They recommend keeping windows and doors locked at all times and keeping valuables out of sight.
A stretch of the A66 at South Bank is expected to be closed until later today after a fuel spillage.
The eastbound section between Cargo Fleet Roundabout and Station Road roundabout had to be closed yesterday afternoon.
The lane is being cleaned and work might be carried out to resurface it.
It's currently expected to be reopened at 1:00 this afternoon.
A new children's play area is expected to create jobs in Dormanstown.
An application to convert the old Dewhirst buildings into a soft play area has been submitted to the council.
The developer said the proposed play centre would be a “valuable facility” for children and families in the area.
She compares it to Play Factory in Skelton and so far is expected to create eight new full-time jobs.
