An appeal for information has been made after a man was robbed in Guisborough.

It happened in the early hours of Saturday on the footpath between Meynell Avenue and The Avenue when two men approached the victim armed with a knife.

They demanded he hand over his money and phone and the two then made off towards Meynell Avenue.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident.

He has since been released while enquiries are carried out.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Lyndsey Forbes on 101.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a car crash on the A171 at the Flatts Lane/Nunthorpe junction.

It happened on Saturday morning at around 8:30 and involved a black Renault Clio and a blue volvo.

The driver of the Volvo was taken to James Cook hospital where he is being treated for internal injuries and a fractured wrist.

The driver of the Clio was also taken and was treated for minor injuries.

Any witnesses are asked to contact PC Mark Pearson on non-emergency number 101.

The Festival of Thrift at Kirkleatham has been named the best event in Teesside.

The announcement was made at the annual Journal Culture Awards which celebrated the best of entertainment and the arts in the North East.

Now the festival is set for a return to Kirkleatham Museum later this year.

Over 35,000 people attended the 2016 event to be entertained, inspired and educated about how to live sustainably in style.

This year's event takes place on September 23 and 24.
