Army staff are set to march into Redcar & Cleveland College this week to showcase career opportunities in a range of disciplines including the Veterinary Corp, the Royal Logistics, Army Catering and the Corp of Army Music.
The college will host the Army Advantage Day on this Friday 5th May 2017 between 10am-4.30pm.
The event will give visitors the opportunity to experience units that may not spring to mind when thinking about a life in the armed forces.
Attendees will also have the chance to experience what it’s like to be the pilot of a Gazelle Helicopter with the Army Air Corps, get hands-on with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Bloodhound rocket car project, encode and decode with the Royal Signals, take part in crime scene investigations with the Royal Military Police and experience a Nerf gun artillery range with the Royal Artillery.
The largest ship in the world is currently heading towards Teesside.
The titanic vessel 'Pioneering Spirit' is currently carrying a massive 24 thousand tonne decommissioned oil rig called the 'Brent Delta Topside' towards the River Tees and is expected make national headlines when it arrive tomorrow morning.
The rig is 130m high and will arrive as a ‘single piece’, having been lifted from its foundations by jacks aboard the huge ship.
The Pioneering Spirit is expected to arrive at a point around 5.5 nautical miles north east of Hartlepool early tomorrow.
The giant oil rig will then be subsequently transferred to a huge barge called the Iron Lady which will then bring the structure into the river Tees and to Able Seaton Port.
Timings will be subject to tide and weather conditions but the process, which will be carried out during daylight hours, should afford spectacular views from the Hartlepool Headland as well as both banks of the river.
