Police are appealing for information after a number of people in Redcar have had eggs thrown at them from the occupant or occupants of a white transit van.

The incidents have all taken place in the last week or so and have happened on West Dyke Road at 8.30pm last Tuesday (1 July) when a teenage boy was struck by an egg to the face and on Queen Street a short while later (8.55pm the same day) when a 55-year-old man was hit on the stomach causing bruising.

A 41 year old woman sought hospital treatment for scratches to her left eye after being hit on Westbourne Grove. She was not detained in hospital and left after being seen.

Officers believe there may have been more incidents like this in the Redcar area recently and they ask anyone with information on who may be responsible to contact PC Janice McArthur on the non emergency number 101.
