A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for Wednesday 18th January 2017.

Police are appealing for information after a dog and its owner have been attacked by another dog while walking along Redcar Stray.

The incident occurred between 12 and 1pm on Sunday when a couple were walking their German Shepherd.

Three men approached them with a Staffie which then attacked the couple's dog and the female owner who intervened to protect it.

As a result of the attack the owner has injuries to her left leg and the German Shepherd has injuries to its hind legs.

It's believed that the three males and the Staffie made off from the scene in a green Volkswagen Golf.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Lee Mapplebeck on non-emergency number 101.

Cleveland Police are inviting cyclists to head to Peddlers bike shop in Redcar tomorrow for a free security etching to help keep bicycles out of the hands of criminals.

They will be providing free security etchings on bicycles as well as giving out crime prevention advice.

The etchings work similar to an animal microchip, helping to return stolen bicycles to their owners.

They are done with a device called a DotPeen machine and the mark will have a postcode and house number attached to it in a police registry.

The etchings not only reunite owners with their property, but also help provide evidence to convict the thief.

And the marking could be enough to deter a thief simply due to the permanent appearance.

The etchings will be free in Peddlers cycle shop tomorrow between 12 and 2.

Four new locations have been identified for out of hours help as health centres in Eston and North Ormesby close in April. Melissa Major reports:
