Police have arrested a man after a car chase in Hemlington.
On Friday evening at around 7pm a man made off from police officers on patrol in Hemlington whilst driving a VW Bora.
After a few minutes the vehicle was abandoned on Fonteyn Court, and after a foot persuit the male was detained.
He was arrested for disqualified driving and driving with no insurance.
In the vehicle there were items that caused the man to be further arrested for going equipped to steal and also theft.
The Bora was recovered for having no insurance under police powers.
Fashion students from a Teesside college have been recognised in a competition designed to unearth the next generation of hairdressing talent.
Hairdressing and beauty therapy students from Redcar & Cleveland College took part in an annual awards competition to test their skills across various challenges and create a dazzling array of spectacular styles.
Level three students competed against each other in the category that celebrated the best quirky avant-garde styles, while level two students battled it out in the mysterious world of fantasy and special occasions categories.
Their performances came under the scrutiny of eagle-eyed industry judges, who included Graham Smith from the renowned Graham Daniels Hair Salon in Billingham.
Prizes were awarded to the winning students from each category, as well as an overall prize for the most dramatic style produced on the day.
Cleveland Police are reminding members of the public to stay safe while they're out over the festive period.
Officers will be out on patrol in nightlife areas over the coming weeks, including Boxing Day and New Year.
Their aim is to create a fun and safe environment for everyone in Cleveland’s town centres.
Staff from emergency services will also be working and will be on hand if help is needed.
But the police are urging people to help keep themselves safe by planning their nights out, staying together in groups and keeping a close eye on drinks.
