A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for Tuesday 6th December 2016.

Police are investigating after two men armed with bladed weapons robbed a petrol station in Guisborough.

They entered the Co-op petrol station on Middlesbrough Road at around midnight last night.

One of the men held a blade near a shop assistant’s face and forced her behind the counter, demanding cash.

He then prised the till open with his weapon and the pair left with cash, the till and a bottle of Jack Daniels.

Police are now appealing for information about the two armed men who are both described as white, of medium build and with Teesside accents.

Both men wore dark clothes with the hoods up, one wore a balaclava and the other is described as having black material covering his entire face.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cleveland Police on 101 o Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Drivers are being urged to take extra care this morning because of fog warnings across Redcar and Cleveland.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning for the fog last night, advising drivers to plan ahead for travel delays.

Highways England is asking people to check their headlights and fog lights before driving to make sure they are working properly.

They should also adjust their speed to suit road conditions.

Routes around Stockton, Darlington and Durham could also be affected.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to a crash involving four cars on Kirkleatham Road bridge on Friday.

It involved a bronze BMW, a red BMW, a white Citroen C3 and a black Nissan Qashqai.

Officers are asking for witnesses who may have seen the BMWs travelling from Cargo Fleet Lane and along the Trunk Road to Kirkleatham Lane.

The drivers of the BMWs were both arrested in connection with the incident.

Both have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Four people - including a 7-year-old boy - were taken to James Cook Hospital with minor injuries.

Witnesses are asked to contact PC David Marlow by calling 101 and quoting event number 219081.

And the festive celebrations are continuing in Redcar and Cleveland with Guisborough’s Christmas Festival later today.
