A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for Friday 25th November 2016.

A man has been arrested for drugs offences by officers investigating driving offences in Guisborough.

Officers from the Cleveland and Durham Road Policing Unit revealed that enquiries yesterday into an uninsured driver led to him being reported for driving offences, and the Range Rover he was driving was seized.

However during the course of their investigations officers also discovered that cannabis was being grown at the man's home address.

He was arrested for drugs offences, interviewed and released on bail whilst forensic work is carried out.

Police are appealing for information after a motorcycle was stolen from a car park.

The silver Honda CB600 motorbike was stolen from the car park of Marton Estate Square in Middlesbrough between 6pm and 6.15pm on Wednesday evening.

Four youths were seen pushing the bike away and the group were also seen a short time later on Cypress Road.

One of the youths is described as a white male and he was wearing a light grey top.

A second male is described as black, wearing a dark coloured top which was possibly red.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact PC David Danks on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The festive season got under way in Redcar yesterday evening with performances from local community groups, children and performers.

Thousands of people crowded into the High Street as the talented local performers took to the stage to sing and perform a variety of festive favourites.

As well as stalls and other attractions, there were also appearances from giant penguins and elves.

The event was rounded off by the Little Mix tribute act The Little Mix Experience, with crowds of fans dancing in the street to the performance.

Amongst those taking part in the event was the Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland, Councillor Barry Hunt.

He told Zetland FM that it had been a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
