A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for Wednesday 31st August 2016

Police have renewed an appeal to trace a teenager who is still missing from home.

15 year-old Mark Freer, who was circulated as missing from home last week, has still not returned and police are again asking anyone who has seen him or who knows where he is to contact them.

Mark is white, around 5'7" tall and has short dark brown hair. Officers believe he is still within the Cleveland Police force area, possibly somewhere in the Park End area of Middlesbrough, and would like to trace him to ensure he is safe and well.

Anyone with information on Mark's whereabouts should contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

A shake-up of bus services in our area begins this coming Monday.

A number of 'Local Link' services are being axed, although Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council says that this is only happening where alternative services exist.

The Council has revised the routes following a review which identified where services were being duplicated. The Local Link services are operated by the council to provide a bus service which is not provided by commercial operators. They began as a pilot scheme five years ago.

However services have altered during the five years, and with the increasing cost of keeping buses on the road, a review was carried out, leading to the new timetable.

You can view the updated timetables on the Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council website or get a copy from the driver of any of the Local Link buses.

Thousands of racegoers turned out over the bank holiday weekend for a special event at Redcar Racecourse.

Over 3,500 people attended the Ladies' & Gents' Evening on Saturday, which included best dressed competitions, a fun casino, photo booth, and live entertainment from local band The Persuaders.

Special guest of the evening, Sarah Gething who is the current Miss Teesside, was a member of the judging panel for the Best Dressed' competitions. Redcar newlyweds Jarred and Gina Thomas, who impressed the judges with their flawless outfits, won the Best Dressed Couple' competition. The couple were in shock after discovering their prizes included his & hers Armani watches along with a number of other high value prizes.
