A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for Monday 29th August 2016

Lifeboat services were called into operation last night after reports of people in difficulty in the sea.

Shortly after 8pm yesterday Staithes and Skinningrove Coastguard Team and lifeboats from Staithes & Runswick RNLI were tasked to assist two people in difficulty in the water at Skinningrove.

Both casualties were taken back to Staithes Lifeboat station for a warm shower, dry clothes and medical assessment. They were suffering from hypothermia and were later transported by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.

The emergency services have thanked the member of the public who quickly alerted them to the incident.

Heavy rain and roadworks made driving conditions tricky for drivers over the weekend.

Standing water on Skelton Ellers and Apple Orchard Bank made driving difficult, whilst on Ladgate Lane at Marton the B1380 was underwater close to Marton Railway Station, underneath the railway bridge.

There were also queues on Kirkleatham Lane heading into Redcar which was also affecting the Trunk Road, due to the four way lights at Coatham Roundabout. The roadworks are expected to continue to cause traffic disruption throughout today.

Clubbers and dance fans enjoyed a night of first class entertainment last night as a legendary DJ hit the decks in Redcar.

DJ Pete Tong was appearing at the 'Get Loose' event at Redcar's Majuba Beach in front of an excited crowd of dance music fans. He was supported by fellow DJ's Krysko, People Get Real, Lee Pennington, Jordan and Adam Conroy.

The crowd were then treated to a set from Pete Tong himself, with a spectacular light show on stage as revellers partied until late last night.
